Portal is a series of first-person puzzle-platform video games created by Valve Corporation and centered around the use of teleporting portals to solve puzzles. Since it features some of the same gameplay elements and is set in the same universe as the Half-Life series, it's consideed a spin-off of it. The element of portals, however, is based on an independent game titled Narbacular Drop.
The released games are:
- Portal (October 9, 2007), PC. Originally released within The Orange Box, it was released as a stand-alone game in 2008 for PC, in 2010 for Mac OS X and in 2013 for Linux.
- Portal: Still Alive (October 22, 2008), Xbox Live Arcade. It includes the whole original game, plus 14 new test chambers taken from Portal: The Flash Version, an unofficial version of the game.
- Portal 2 (April 19, 2011), PC.
Additionally, a series of graphic novels were made available in the official Portal 2 website. These include:
- Portal 2: Lab Rat, released in April 2011, serving as a bridge between Portal and Portal 2.
- Turret Lullaby, released in September 2011, depicting the testing days of the Consumer Sentry Turret.
- Randolph the Red-Nosed Turret, released in December 2011, a parody of the 1939 booklet, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.
