The Wii remake of Project Zero II features unlockable costumes for the game's protagonists based on the Mario brothers. They become available for purchase for 15000 Spirit Points after completing the game at Normal Difficulty and receiving the "Promise" ending.

Project Zero Wii Mario

Mio dressed as Mario.

Project Zero Wii Luigi

Mayu dressed as Luigi.

Like the Mario brothers, also this game's protagonists are twins, and reflecting the respective roles of the Mario brothers, Mario's costume is worn by the game's main heroine Mio Amakura, while Luigi's is worn by the second character Mayu.

Luigi's costume actually returns directly from Zero: Tsukihami no Kamen, where it was worn by Misaki Asou, but that time it was considered a reference to the Luigi's Mansion series.

Like the original costumes, they're identical except for the initials on the cap and the color of the cap and shirt, "M" and red for Mario and "L" and green for Luigi. Like Luigi's costume from Tsukihami no Kamen, they have 3/4 sleeves and pants rather than full long sleeves and pants. Also they don't wear gloves and Mio keeps her own shoes like Misaki did. Mayu however also wears Mio's shoes rather than her own boots, likely because she couldn't wear them with the overall.

These are the fourth Nintendo costumes in the Project Zero universe, following Luigi's costume and Samus' Zero Suit in Zero: Tsukihami no Kamen and Peach's costume in Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir.

While developed by Tecmo Koei, Project Zero 2: Wii Edition was licensed by Nintendo to be released on the Nintendo Wii, so they could include references to the Mario series.
