This Tamagotchi game for the Nintendo 64, also known as Tamagotchi 64, features two tamagotchis based on Mario characters:
- Mariotchi, based on Mario and obtained by winning a game with any Generation 1 adult.
- Waruotokotchi, based on Wario and obtained by winning a game with any Generation 2 adult.

Mario Kart Arcade GP 2 features Mametchi, possibly the most famous Tamagotchi and the one considered the mascot of the Tamagotchi series. The logo on his kart is his smiling face, while his "face" to be placed on the player's photo consists of the blue hat-like top of his head.
His character-exclusive kart is a rickshaw shaped like a Tamagotchi shell, trained by a little Tamagotchi wearing a conical asian hat.
His special items are:
- Mame Block - Taking its name from Mametchi's family, the Mame Family.
- Bagubagutchi - Mame Family's dog from the Tamagotchi anime.
- Chibi Syrup

Tamagotchi 64 was licensed by Nintendo to be released on the Nintendo 64, so they could also include references to the Mario series.
While published by Nintendo, Mario Kart Arcade GP 2 was developed by Namco Bandai, so they could include references to their Tamagotchi series.
