This page summarizes interactions between Wii games series and the Super Smash Bros. series.

Note that Smash Bros. considers each game line in it as separate lines of games. Considering how the Wii franchise make a name for themselves with Miis in these kinds of games, it is a fictional universe to the wiki. This page is meant to explain how Super Smash Bros. gives representation to game titles that include Wii in the title.
To see how each single Wii game gets representation in the Super Smash Bros. series see the specific detailed link pages:

  • Wii Fit (details)
  • Wii Sports (details)
  • Mii (details) (Note: this page will include games that Miis mostly populate, but are not considered a Wii game, such as Mii Plaza and Nintendo Land.)

Out-universe link: Super Smash Bros

Super Smash Bros.4Arrow L Wii games

The opening theme from Wii Sports and the theme of the “Charge!” minigame in Wii Play are featured in Super Smash Bros. Brawl as music tracks for the PictoChat stage, titled Opening Theme (Wii Sports) and Charge! (Wii Play). The latter is unlocked by getting a CD containing the track.

This is considered a type 3 link because music is not supposed to be heard by the game characters, but only by the player, so only the players are able to see the connection between the two series.

Being alternate versions of the same game, these two feature mostly the same content, except for stages and trophies and including some different modes. Specifically they feature from the Wario series:

Wii Fit Trainer[]

File:SSB4 Wii Fit Trainer.png

Wii Fit Trainer is a new starting character and the only playable fighter representing the Wii games (excluding Mii Fighters). She resembles her appearance in Wii Fit, though her ponytail more closely resembling her appearance in Wii Fit Plus.

Wii Fit Trainer enters stage by stepping off of a Wii Balance Board, a device used for Wii Fit and Wii Fit Plus.

Wii Fit Trainer has a variety of moves based on different Yoga and Strength Training poses, and they make a good portion of her move-set including non-special attacks:

  • Neutral attack: It is a three step combo with the Sideways Leg Lift, Single Leg Twist, and Lunge in that order. She attacks with an outstretched arm, knee strike, and kneeling stomp, respectively. The third attack is able to bury the opponent for a short while. All three are strength training exercises. The sideways leg lift helps strengthen side and shoulder muscles for that well-toned look, the single leg twist builds side abdominal muscles to give a more toned look, and lunges strengthen thighs and hips to give toned legs and hips. The first stretch can be done by lifting with one arm while raising the opposite leg. The second exercise can be done by raising the leg and swinging it to the height of the stomach, while swinging the opposite side arm and having the back hand touch it. The third can be done by clasping your hands behind your head, moving one leg back, and bending the opposite knee to 90 degrees.
  • Forward tilt - Dance: Wii Fit Trainer simultaneously performs a knifehand thrust and scorpion kick through the pose. Attacking from the legs launches them vertically and is thus able to start combos while attacking from. It is based on a Yoga exercise in Wii Fit U that lifts the hips and gluts, as well as realigning the spine. This pose can be done by grabbing the inside arch of a foot with the same side thumb on the sole, bring the knees together, have the opposite arm parallel to the floor, and then raising the grabbed leg while maintaining balance with the abs.
  • Up tilt - Triangle: She performs the pose and attacks with her outstretched arms, sending her opponents upwards. Triangle is a yoga pose that helps strengthen the lower body and tone the waist. This can be done by extending one leg back while keeping it aligned with the other, and twist the body so that the unextended leg is touched by the opposite arm, and then stretch the other arm. This is also preformed in one of her victory poses.
  • Down tilt - Bridge: She performs the pose and attacks with her knees, while can be used for dodging while attacking as she crouches. It is a yoga pose that helps strengthen the torso and tighten the hips. This can be done by first starting to lie on the back with the knees bent and feet flat on the floor while grabbing the ankles or resting the palm on the floor. Afterwards, lift your hips so the angle from the floor to the hips reach between 30 to 40 degrees.
  • Dash attack - Gate: The trainer slides while attacking with her arcing arm. This can create a sort of fox-trotting. Gate is a yoga pose in Wii Fit U that can help tone the sides and relieve overall tension. This can be done by facing one side, and going down one knee and stretching the other foot. Then, put the hand from the same side as extended leg on its knee while raising up the other arm. Finally, lower the upper body to the direction of the extended leg.
  • Forward smash - Warrior: Wii Fit Trainer preforms the pose to attack with her outstretched arms on both directions (though more effective from the front side). It is based on the yoga pose that strengthens the thighs and hips, and also helps align the pelvis. This pose can be done by extending one leg back and having the arms be as far, while having the heels aligned. Afterwards, bend the front knee and maintain balance between the legs. This is also preformed in one of her victory poses.
  • Up smash - Tree: She performs the pose and attack with her outstretched, clasped hands. Not only does it have good vertical range, it grants intangibility at the start of the move. The Tree pose is a yoga pose that helps strengthen the legs and back. This can be done be by lifting one leg and placing the sole of it on the other leg’s thigh. Afterwards place your palms together and then raise the arms upwards. This is also preformed in one of her victory poses.
  • Down smash - Arm-and-Leg Lift: She attacks with an outstretched arm and outstretched leg. It is a move that can semi-spike, as well as avoid certain attacks for a free retaliating hit. Arm-and-Leg Lift is a strength training pose that tones shoulder and hip muscles to improve body balance. This can be done by getting on all fours, while stretching one arm and the opposite side leg.
  • Neutral aerial - Jackknife: She performs the pose to attack with her arms and legs. The jackknife is a strength training pose that works the abs to help develop a well-toned body. This can be preformed by placing both feet up with the back lied down on the back and the arms stretched out, and then raising the upper body while raising the legs to form a V-shape.
  • Forward aerial - Single Leg Extension: She performs the extension to attack with an outstretched arm and outstretched leg. Wii Fit Trainer's leg can meteor smash when clean, and thanks to it coming out on frame 9 like her arm hitbox, it is among the fastest meteor smashes in the game. The extension is a strength training pose that helps build triceps, torso, and hip muscles and improves coordination. This exercise is done by balancing on one leg and repeatedly pulling it back and forth. This is also preformed in one of her victory poses.
  • Back aerial - Cobra: She assumes the pose to perform a double-footed back kick. This is a yoga training pose that builds strength and flexibility in the back muscles and can help correct posture. This can be done by lying face-down with elbows and palm on the floor, raising the chest and then later stretching the elbows and pushing the upper-body off the floor.
  • Up aerial - Half Moon: She assumes the pose to attack with her outstretched, clasped hands. It has good juggling potential, and auto-cancels from a short hop are fairly strong. This is based on a yoga pose that stretches the waist muscles, and can help to improve posture and digestive health. This can be done by raising both arms high while stretching the spine and fingers upwards, and then tilt and extend the body to the side. She also preforms this pose for her up taunt.
  • Down aerial - Chair: She uses the pose to perform a double foot stomp. This can meteor smash aerial opponents. It is a yoga pose that helps strengthen the back, legs, and abs. This can be done by bringing the arms up to be parallel with the floor, lifting the heels if possible, and then bending the knees to lower the hips.
  • Grab - Rowing Squat: Wii Fit trainer does a squat to grab and lift the opponent off the ground. The Rowing Squat is a strength training exercise that builds the thigh and back muscles to help develop good posture. This can be preform by sticking the bottom out and the bending the knees 120 degrees.
  • Neutral Special - Sun Salutation: Wii Fit Trainer preforms the pose, which creates a chargeable energy ball and releases it similar to Samus’ Charge Shot. When fully charged, the move also heals the trainer by a small percentage. When the projectile is an original part of Smash Bros. that represents the sun, the Sun Salutation is a yoga pose that is designed to tone the arms and thighs. This can be preformed by bringing the palms together and raising them up in the air. From there, extend the reach to slightly behind. Afterwards, bend forward and touch toes with the hands. Later, put the palms together and pointing them towards the ceiling while bending the knees and later straightening them.
    • Enriched Sun Salutation: The energy ball gets smaller as it charges and is more powerful, but will not heal Wii Fit Trainer when fully charged.
    • Sweeping Sun Salutation: The energy ball travels slowly but hits foes multiple times, pushing them away.
  • Side Special - Header: Wii Fit Trainer jumps up and headbutts a green soccer ball, making the ball travel on an angled trajectory downward. The move can be preformed anytime to change the angle of the shot. There is even a variety of movesets based on how and if the trainer hits the ball. The move is most likely representative of the balance training game, Soccer Heading, where the Mii has to lean to hit a soccer ball.
    • Huge Header: Head a larger ball that's slightly slower and less powerful but easier to hit with. Cancelling the move will allow the ball to stay in play longer than the standard variation. In the 3DS version of the game, it is unlocked by getting a maximum combo of 10 or more in Training mode.
    • Weighted Header: H ead a heavy ball that's more powerful but quick to drop to the ground. When the move is cancelled, the ball quickly drops to the floor, harmless, and almost immediately disappears.
  • Up Special - Super Hoop: When used, it causes Wii Fit Trainer to steadily rise into the air by twirling three hula hoops around her body. Repeatedly tapping the special button helps increase height and speed flown. The move is based around the aerobics activity, Hula Hoop, where the player must roll their hips around and catch other hula hoops are thrown towards him/her.
    • Jumbo Hoop: When used on the ground, Wii Fit Trainer hovers above the ground, rising slowly, although very insignificantly. When used in the air, it grants no upward movement at all, limiting Wii Fit Trainer's vertical recovery to her standard jumps. When the special button is pressed, it only rises slightly. It boasts a reliable horizontal recovery and has a greatly improved range, as the hula hoops are bigger. By moving towards the foe continuously, the Wii Fit Trainer can trap the opponent into a barrage of hits. This move is highly maneuverable and can change directions at any time.
    • Hoop Hurricane: Creates a whirlwind around Wii Fit Trainer that pulls opponents in while rising, but has little to no vertical movement, about half of the standard variation's height. Additionally, the move only lasts for a brief moment, less than the standard variation. When the enemy is pulled in, they are hit multiple times, about five to six times.
  • Down Special - Deep Breathing: When used, a light blue circle shrinks to fill a smaller red one. With a second button press when the two circles meet, Wii Fit Trainer is healed and receives various buffs for 9.8 seconds. The move has a 60 second refresh time in Smash 4. The refresh timer starts immediately when the move is activated. If Deep Breathing is used again before it is refreshed, it will take longer to activate successfully. A stale Deep Breathing will yield smaller buffs and a shorter active time. Deep Breathing is a yoga technique that soothes and calms the body down.
    • Volatile Breathing: A forbidden breathing method that causes an explosion. Doesn't heal or power you up.
    • Steady Breathing: If successful, you're briefly impossible to launch. Takes a while to use again, though.
  • Final Smash - Wii Fit: This is an original move in Smash Bros. wHere Wii Fit Trainer shoots out various colored silhouettes of different poses in Wii Fit towards the opponents facing her.

As a trainer, her victory poses mention different sayings a trainer would say depending on what the pose is. The victory poses that has her preform the Triangle pose and Single Leg Extension, she also preforms the Standing Knee pose, a Yoga pose to improve flexibility in the thighs. She also has a saying for each taunt preformed.

Similar to Robin and Villager, Wii Fit Trainer’s palette alternates between the male and female counterparts. Even the male default for Wii Fit Trainer is based on his appearance in Wii Fit. Unlike the other two fighters, not only do the different associated share the same color palette (besides the default), they also have different Boxing Ring nicknames similar to Olimar and Alph. For female trainers, their nickname is “Yoga Warrior”. This not only reference her as a yoga instructor, but the warrior pose is seen as a yoga exercise in the games. The male trainer is nicknamed “The BMI bandit”. BMI stands for “body mass index”, which measures body mass (commonly referred as weight) compared to one’s height. This is measured in Wii Fit games to keep progress if users are maintaining a healthy mass for the body through gain or loss of it:

  • Green: Resembles the trainer’s appearance in Wii Fit Plus and Wii Fit U.
  • Red: The color represents the Aerobics category in Wii Fit games.
  • Yellow: The color that represents the Balance Games. Also loosely based on an alternate outfit from Wii Fit Plus which only appears when a Yoga or Strength Training activity is being done in "My Wii Fit Plus" mode.

Stages[]

The Wii U feature two new starter stages. While the 3DS does features two stages for the Miis, it doesn’t count for this link page.

New stages are:

Wii Fit Studio[]

File:SSB4 WiiFit Studio.png

Based on the studio where Yoga and Strength Training exercises in Wii Fit take place, the Wii Fit Studio is a starting stage in Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U.

The stage consists of a large floor with no pits and a mirror in the background that can help players see a few steps beyond the normal limit of the stage. The background also features the animated Balance Board appears to do stretches when facing the camera. The mirror can be replaced by a white background with a silhouette of one of these poses: Half Moon, Warrior, Tree, Sun Salutation, Dance, Bridge, Gate. At times, the trainer’s voice can be heard when mentioning the poses. Two or three Wii Balance Boards also occasionally appear as floating platforms.

A peculiarity of the Wii Fit Studio stage in this game is that when used in an 8-Player Smash, the mirrors will not appear.

Wuhu Island[]

File:SSB4 WuhuIsland.png

Based on the island from Wii Fit that has been given a more detailed layout in Wii Sports Resort (as well as appearing in Mario Kart 7 and 8), Wuhu Island appears as a starting stage in Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U with high accuracy.

Players battle on flying platforms, that then drop them in various locations from the game, including the frisbee dog park, swaying bridge, the sea (with different sets of platforms such as rocks or a boating gate), Maka Wuhu, the wishing fountain in town, the swordplay colosseum, and Talon Rock. The Frisbee Dog Park even shows a Mii with a dog throwing a frisbee.

Trophies[]

Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS features 10 Wii Fit trophies, all being Wii Fit related.

The Wii U version features 16 Game & Watch trophies: thirteen Wii Fit trophies (including Wii Fit Trainer trophies, her Final Smash, and a stage trophy), and three Wii Sports trophies.

Since all the trophies from the 3DS version return in the Wii U version, except there being a different Wii Fit Trainer Alternate trophy of the male trainer (other sources list them as one, but since they feature different models, we count them separate), there only are 17 Wii games trophies across both versions.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate[]

Wii Fit Trainer[]

Wii Fit Trainer is once again the only Wii games fighter in the game (Mii Fighters do not count), and not being one of the eight starting characters from the original Super Smash Bros. she's unlockable.

Like all other unlockable characters, she can be unlocked by either having her join the party in World of Light, playing enough VS matches, or clearing Classic mode with specific characters. Specifically, Wii Fit Trainer is the 9th character unlocked playing VS Matches, and the second in Samus' Classic Mode unlock tree.

She received only minor changes, one of the most notable being an updated look with a clearer face and detailed eyes. The Final Smash also finishes off with a giant version of the Dancer pose. Wii Fit Trainer keeps all the same alternate outfit as the previous game, still alternating between female and male versions.

Her Classic Mode is called "Aerobic Smash" and all her opponents are characters who are round or plump such as Wario, Pac-Man, and Jigglypuff. The final boss is Master Hand.

Stages[]

Both Wii Fit Studio and Wuhu Island stages from previous games return in Ultimate. The stages are mostly unchanged, save for graphical enhancements.

In this game it's also possible to turn off Stage Hazards, which keeps the floating platforms from Wii Fit Studio in place, as well as having the initial flying platforms from Wuhu Island not drop in various location while staying in flight.

Spirits[]

The game features 13 spirits from the Wii games. While there are only 11 spirits from Wii Fit, 2 spirits from the Mii category were considered additionally for being in games with "Wii" in the title. Most of them are unlockable in Spirits mode, either in Adventure Mode or the Spirits Board, where the player must win in a fight with specific conditions, simulating a fight against the spirit's character. Alternative unlock criteria are indicated when available. Most spirits can also be obtained as random rewards or by purchasing them from the in-game shop; this is only listed when it's the only way to unlock the spirit.

Fighter Spirits usually come in two alternative artworks, but the fighter spirits in this series are some of the exceptions to the norm, having their artworks from Ultimate.

Music tracks[]

Similarly to Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Wii music is split into two categories. While Wii Fit music is still its own category, Wii Sports music becomes part of the "Others" category. The game features 20 Wii tracks, including 12 stage tracks from Brawl and for Wii U, and 8 new ones (4 per category) (listed in bold). The only track not returning is "Opening Theme / Select (Wii Sports)". Out of all the tracks shown, only 4 of them (1 Wii Fit, 3 "Others") need to be unlocked by either obtaining them as random rewards or buying them from the in-game shop. The only one

While those in the former category are played for Wii Fit Studio, those in the latter are not only heard in Wuhu Island, they can be set to be play on any stage from minor Nintendo series including Summit, Wrecking Crew, Duck Hunt, PictoChat 2, Living Room, Find Mii, Tomodachi Life, and Pilotwings. Update to Ver. 8.1.0 on August 4, 2020 allowed any of these tracks to be played on Battlefield, Small Battlefield, Big Battlefield, and Final Destination stages.

Wii Fit Trainer's victory theme also returns unchanged from the previous game, but it's not available in the Sound Test and are therefore not listed here.
