This is a platform videogame and its first half, based on Back to the Future Part II features enemies that are likely based on Mario enemies, specifically there is a mushroom-like enemy that resemble a Goomba and a spiked turtle that retreats in its shell, looking like a Spiny. All enemies are defeated by stomping on them, including the spiked turtle, unlike Spinies in Mario games and against what common sense would suggest.

Additionally, some areas are accessed through pipes, much like Warp Pipes from Mario games, and some of them also have tentacle-like enemies coming out, similarly to how Piranha Plants come out of pipes.

In a scene, Marty must make arrangements for Edna to deliver soup (which is actually alcohol) to the Stay Sober Society. At one point, Marty mentions that he's delivered soup to charities before, and Edna asks him which ones they were. Marty responds by telling her "the Mario Brothers", and Edna goes on to comment that "the Italians do so many good works".

License[]

The creators of the Back to the Future videogames held no right over Nintendo's Mario, but they only included minor references to the series.
