Duke Nukem, the main character of the series

Duke Nukem is an action video game series originally created by 3D Realms (formerly Apogee Software), and currently owned by Gearbox Software.

  • Duke Nukem (July 1st, 1991) for DOS. The version 2.0 release was renamed Duke Nukum over copyright concerns.
  • Duke Nukem II (December 3rd, 1993) for DOS, PC, and iOS
    • Duke Nukem (November 30th, 1999) for Game Boy Color. A port with an entirely original set of enemies and weapons.
  • Duke Nukem 3D (January 29th, 1996) for DOS, Game.com, MacOS, PlayStation (as Duke Nukem: Total Meltdown), Nintendo 64 (as Duke Nukem 64), Sega Saturn, Sega Genesis, iOS, Android, and Xbox Live Arcade
    • Duke Nukem 3D: Atomic Edition (November 27th, 1996) for PC. An upgraded version with extra content.
    • Duke Nukem 3D: Megaton Edition (March 30th, 2013) for PC, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita. A rerelease of Duke Nukem 3D with its expansion packs.
    • Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary World Tour (October 11th, 2016) for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. A remake of Duke Nukem 3D with an original 5th chapter included.
  • Duke Nukem: Time To Kill (September 30th, 1998) for PlayStation
  • Duke Nukem: Zero Hour (August 1st, 1999) for Nintendo 64
  • Duke Nukem: Land of the Babes (September 19th, 2000) for PlayStation

    • Duke Nukem Arena (June 14th, 2007) for Mobile Phones. An adaptation of Duke Nukem Mobile 3D with new features. Rereleased on 2010 as Duke Nukem Battlefields.
  • Duke Nukem: Critial Mass (April 8th, 2011) for Nintendo DS
  • Duke Nudem (May 18th, 2011) for Browsers. Part of the viral campaign for Forever, Duke Nudem is a Flash shooter game with a group of female models as playable characters.
  • Duke Nukem Forever (June 10th, 2011) for PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360

Compilations[]

  • Duke Nukem: Kill-A-Ton Collection (1997) for DOS. A 3-disc compilation including the original two games, 3D and all its official expansion packs, as well as a number of extra content, a stage editor and shareware versions of a number of games published by Apogee.
  • Duke Nukem: Kill-A-Ton 2015 Collection (May 15th, 2015) for PC. A compilation including Duke Nukem, II, 3D and Manhattan Project, as well as Balls of Steel and a few official modded PAKs for 3D. Later delisted following Gearbox's acquisition of the Duke Nukem IP.

Duke Nukem has also seen a number of cancelled games over the years, including Duke Nukem: Endangered Species (2001), Duke Begins (2009), Duke Nukem: Chain Reaction (2011), Duke Nukem: Proving Grounds (2011), Duke Nukem: Critical Mass (2014) and Duke Nukem: Man of Valor (2003).

  • Duke Nukem: Glorious Bastard (July 2011). A 4-issue comic book by IDW Publishing.
  • Duke Nukem Forever: Another Hole on the Wall (June 10th, 2011). A prequel comic book included with special editions of Duke Nukem Forever.

Doom (ID Software) 1996129 January 29, 1996 In Duke Nukem 3D, a corpse similar to the Doomguy can be found in Episde 3, Level 1. Upon finding it, Duke quips "That's one doomed space marine"; one of the books found in the Slayer's office in Doom Eternal is titled "Why I'm So Great Pt II, By Dork Norkem"; one of the control schemes in Duke Nukem: Total Meltdown is based on the scheme of the PlayStation port of Doom and named "Doomed" and the multiplayer DLC map "Inferno" from Forever is inspired by the Doom II map "Entryway". 3
4 Star Wars 1996129 January 29, 1996 In Duke Nukem 3D, a hanging corpse similar to Luke Skywalker can be found in Episode 2, Level 7. Upon finding it, Duke quips "Now this is a force to be reckoned with". In Duke Nukem 64, Luke is replaced by Yoda. 3
