In a scene in the third episode of the series, Oscar and Bea become trapped under a cabinet by a large cat, and being afraid they would get eaten, he tries to reveal his feeleng for her, but ends up describing the plot of Donkey Kong: Oscar: Bea, if this is the end, there's something I gotta tell you. Bea: What is it, Oscar? Oscar: I wanted to tell you that... I'm a plumber! Bea: Excuse me? Oscar: And you're a princess, ugh, It's like we're both in this giant video game. And the plumber's trying to get to the princess. But there's always this giant monkey in the way that keeps throwing barrels! And all he's wearing is a tank-top! No pants!

Note that Mario was actually a carpenter in the original Donkey Kong, not a plumber, and also he had to rescue his girlfriend Pauline, not a princess. These are actually elements introduced later, in the Mario series.

The creators of Fish Hooks held no right over Nintendo's Donkey Kong, but they only included a minor reference to the game.
