Coming to America is a romantic comedy film series distributed by Paramount Pictures.
The film follows Prince Akeem Joffer, the wealthy African nation of Zamunda, who grows weary of his pampered lifestyle on his 21st birthday and wishes to do more for himself. When his parents King Jaffe and Queen Aoleon present him with an arranged bride-to-be, Akeem takes action and travels to New York City along with his best friend/personal aide Semmi, posing as humble exchange students as he seeks an independent woman who loves him for himself and not his social status.
