Street Fighter
other Capcom series
Ken's stage in Street Fighter Alpha 2 (Street Fighter Zero 2 in Japan), titled "San Francisco Bay", is set within a cruiser of his ownership where he's holding a birthday party for his girlfriend (and future wife) Eliza. The stage features several characters from other Capcom games in the background, serving as guests to the birthday party and either enjoying themselves or watching the battle unfold.
Here's a list of each cameo character in the stage, including two instances of characters planned to be included but cut from the final version. Click on "More" for a detailed list of connections between each series and Street Fighter. From left to right:
| Images | Characters | Notes |
|---|---|---|
|
Lord Raptor, Hsien-ko and Mei-ling from Darkstalkers (More) | He is seen sitting on a large gift while tuning his guitar. He appears to be in his human or living form from before becoming a zombie, sporting a normal skin tone and no exposed bones or the large "mouth" in his stomach. |
| The two sisters are standing next to Lord Raptor. Hsien-ko appears with her back to the battle, but has an animation where she turns around briefly to watch. Much like Raptor they appear in human form and wear normal dresses with their standard costumes' color schemes (blue and red for Hsien-ko, yellow for Mei-ling). Hsien-ko also has a normal skin tone instead of her zombie blue skin. | ||
|
Unknown Soldiers from Forgotten Worlds (More) | The two nameless soldiers can be seen in front of a large table, wearing a black and red tuxedo respectively. The 1P Unknown Soldier is seen with a towel on his right hand and a tray of wine glasses on his left, perhaps indicating they are working as butlers for the party. |
| Morrigan Aensland from Darkstalkers | Standing next to the Unknown Soldiers, while holding a wine glass. Much like Raptor and the sisters, Morrigan sports a very different and more "normal" human look here, wearing a rather revealing black dress, hot pants and violet thigh-high socks, and lacking the bat wings on her head and back. She performs a short animation in which she moves her hair around. | |
|
Victor Ortega and Biff Slamkovich from Slam Masters (More) | The two wrestlers can be spotted at the end of the table, drinking and dressed in white tuxedos with red ties. Victor stands in front of the table and wears his championship belt, while Biff stands back-turned to the battle, being recognizable by the red band on his arm. |
|
Captain Commando, Ginzu and Carol from Captain Commando (More) | The Captain and Ginzu appear in the center of the stage, the former presenting a flower bouquet to Eliza. The Captain wears a full black tuxedo marked with his armor's star logo, while Ginzu sports his regular ninja uniform. Behind them stands Carol, one of the games' generic enemies, holding two trays in her hands, one with wine and the other with a roasted meat with a bone. She also appears to sport bunny ears. This character has often been mistakenly identified as Michelle Heart from Legendary Wings, but All About Street Fighter Zero 2 explicity identifies her as the Captain Commando enemy. |
|
Hiryu from Strider (More) | He stands next to Captain Commando, holding a teddy bear under his arm presumably for Eliza as well. He appears in his regular Strider uniform, with an added little black ribbon tie. Whenever one of the player characters connects a Super Combo in battle, Hiryu will animate and throw the teddy bear high into the air, then catch it on its way back down. |
|
Linn Kurosawa from Alien vs. Predator (More) | Linn appears leaning over the pool's ladder, sporting a two-piece bikini in orange, the main color of her regular uniform, with one of her large shoulder plates still in place. Concept art of the stage shows the original idea was for her to sit on the shoulder of her in-game partner Dutch Schaefer, while he sat inside the pool. |
| Felicia from Darkstalkers | She's seen inside the pool, fully submerged so only her head and shoulder can be seen. Her blue hair and white cat ears makes her completely recognizable, however. She's not featured in the original concept art, instead the two main characters from Mega Twins (Chiki Chiki Boys in Japan) can be seen swimming in her place inside the pool. | |
| Pure the Mage from Adventure Quiz (More) | She's seen far in the back, sitting on the edge of the pool. She sports a green one-piece bikini but keeps her regular costume's green hat. |
The final person seen all the way to the right is not a fictional character, but a caricature of Capcom's CEO Kenzo Tsujimoto dressed like a butler.
Nature of the links[]
Excerpt from page 302 of the artbook, confirming the characters' identities
It's commonly believed among fans that these character cameos are not the actual characters, but unrelated people cosplaying as them for the occasion, making these Type 2 links. This is despite the fact many of the characters shown in the stage are not wearing their usual costumes or uniforms, but formal attires. The stage's description in the official Japanese artbook All About Street Fighter Zero 2 lists these characters directly by name and game of origin, with no mention or implication that they are anything but their actual selves attending the party. As such, they are listed as Type 1 in-universe links.
It is worth noting, however, that the cameos in this stage are considered only a tongue-in-cheek addition and not a serious indication of any sort of canonical tie between Street Fighter and the series present. Specially in consideration that some of these characters come from vastly incongruent settings (such as medieval-themed fantasy worlds) and/or eras (from the far future).
License[]
Copyrights for all series are held by Capcom.
In the case of Linn Kurosawa, the character was an original creation for Capcom's Alien vs. Predator beat'em up video game, made under license from Fox. Although Fox owns all rights over the character and game, Linn was only included in a very minor capacity and in specific as a reference to Capcom's work.
