Sakura&Kero

Sakura and Kero

Cardcaptor Sakura is a manga and anime series created by Clamp and published by Kodansha.

The story is about Sakura Kinomoto, a girl who accidentally releases a set of magical cards that can assume different forms, and it's her role to retrive them all. She's accompanied by the guardian of the Clow Cards, a little crature named Cerberus, called Kero or Kero-chan for short, that also serves as a sort of mascot for the series.

Comics

The original manga was published from 1996 to 2000 for a total of 50 chapters, and released in 12 tankobon volumes.

A sequel manga titled Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card Hen started publication on June 3, 2016 and is currently ongoing.

An anime manga based on the first two seasons of the TV series was also published in 10 volumes from August 1998 to November 2000.

Animation

The manga was adapted and expanded upon in an anime series which ran for 3 seasons, for a total of 70 episodes from April 7, 1998 to March 21, 2000. Three specials also aired on TV:

  • You're Wonderful, Sakura-chan! Tomoyo's Cardcaptor Sakura Video Diary! (September 25, 1998)
  • You're Wonderful, Sakura-chan! Tomoyo's Cardcaptor Sakura Video Diary 2! (September 25, 1999)
  • You're Wonderful, Sakura-chan! Tomoyo's Cardcaptor Sakura Video Diary Special! (September 25, 1999)

Two OVA movies were also released:

  • Cardcaptor Sakura: The Movie (August 21, 1999)
  • Cardcaptor Sakura Movie 2: The Sealed Card (July 15, 2000)

A third OVA is scheduled to be released on September 13, 2017.

A new animated series based on the Clear Card Hen manga is scheduled to start in January 2018.
