Additionally, the a four-issue comicbook prequel series titled Borderlands: Origins was released between October 2012 and February 2013.

Two prequel novels were also written: Borderlands: The Fallen, released on November 22, 2011, and Borderlands: Unconquered, released on September 25, 2012.
