This page explains in detail the interactions between the Barry Steakfries series and the Fruit Ninja series.

October 28, 2010
An iOS port of Age of Zombies, released on October 10th, 2010 (and other later ports), feature a cameo of Sensei, one of the main characters from Fruit Ninja series, in the Ancient Japan level.
Jetpack Joyride[]
September 13, 2011
There are various references to Fruit Ninja in Jetpack Joyride.
Customisation[]
A clothing set based on Sensei can be purchased withing the in-game store. The set consists of "Sensei's Headband" and "Sensei's Threads", costing 10 000 and 9 000 coins respectively. A "Fruit Jetpack" can also be purchased for 20 000 coins. The jetpack is a giant watermelon with two barrels attached to it, firing various fruits that appeared in Fruit Ninja.
Cut & Run[]
Cut & Run Event logo
One of the events added to Jetpack Joyride is "Cut & Run", first released in 2015 to celebrate the 5th Anniversary of Fruit Ninja, and has seen a reruns in the years since. Some gameplay elements change during the event to reference the Arcade mode from Fruit Ninja.
- The music on the menu screen is replaced by one of the themes from Fruit Ninja, used in the shop. The gameplay theme is the remix of Jetpack Joyride Main Theme using the soundfont from Fruit Ninja.
- The player always has aformentioned Sensei's Headband, Sensei's Threads and Fruit Jetpack equipped as they were made specifically to reference Fruit Ninja. All of them can also be won by playing the event.
- There is now a 60-second time limit. The game automatically ends when a player is out of time. This was however changed in 2019 reruns of the event; The time was reduced to 30, but you can continuously add 5 seconds by collecting time clocks flying around the level.
- All of the coins are replaced by fruits.
- Getting hit by an obstacle doesn't kill Barry. Instead, it causes him to lose 10% of the collected fruits. This is similar to how slicing a bomb in the Arcade mode of Fruit Ninja deducts 10 points from the player. This was changed in 2019 reruns to also deduct 10 seconds from the timer.
Other references[]
- The description for Ninja Mask headgear states that it is "Perfect for masking your shame when you accidentally hit a bomb with a sword", referencing how players are supposed to avoid slicing the bombs in Fruit Ninja.
- Jetpack Joyride has an achievement called "Tee Hee Two", awarded for finishing the run with 69 coins collected. This references a very similar achievement from Fruit Ninja, called "Tee Hee Hee", that has a similar condition of scoring exactly 69 points in a round.
- A picture of Sensei appears on one of the backgrounds available during the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Crossover" event.

Fruit Ninja 5th Year Anniversary[]
Monster Dash: Fruit Ninja 5th Year Anniversary artwork
Similar to "Cut & Run" event in Jetpack Joyride, Monster Dash included references to Fruit Ninja to celebrate its 5th Anniversary.
The Fruit Ninja Blade was added as a premium weapon. The weapon is a blade with short range. When Barry kills a monster with it, a sound of a combo from Fruit Ninja will play. Killing monsters also fills up its meter, and when it's full, the player has to swipe on the right side of the screen (similar to how the fruits are sliced in Fruit Ninja) to activate flames, that move forward and destroy all obstacles on their way.
Additionally, 5 new missions were added to game, most of which force player to use the Fruit Ninja Blade even if the player hasn't purchased it and replace the music with the Main Theme from Fruit Ninja. These missions feature bombs from Fruit Ninja as an obstacle.

In the 2020 update to Monster Dash, a Mount Rushmore was added to the background of Yeti Heights levels, but with the faces of Halfbrick characters, one of which is Sensei.
